Pearl was born in 1893. Pearl's father was James Emmett Anders and her mother was Margaret Shumate. Her paternal grandparents were Osborn Anders and Rachel Taylor. She has a brother and a sister, named John W. and Ella. She is the youngest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named David, William, Mettie Mae, Polly Elizabeth and Ethel.-
