Richard was born about September 1376 in Coinsborough Castle, Yorkshire, England.1 Richard's father was Edmund Plantangenet and his mother was Isabel Perez. His paternal grandparents were Edward III Plantagenet and Philippa Avesnes; his maternal grandparents were Pedro I Alfonsez and Maria Juana De PADILLA. He had a brother and a sister, named Edward "of York" Prince Of and Constance Princess Of. He was the youngest of the three children.
