Lawrence Theophilus Epperson 
Lawrence Theophilus was born on September 22nd, 1884 in Midway, Wasatch, Utah, USA. Lawrence Theophilus' father was Sidney Theophilus Epperson and his mother was Julia Eliza Van Wagenen. His paternal grandparents were Sidney Hiram EPPERSON and Mary Jane Robey; his maternal grandparents were David Van Wagenen and Julia Ann Provost. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Amos David, George Emery, Francis Azel, Eliza Etta, Julia Lorinda, Laverna Jane and Hattie Loretta. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 74 on July 8th, 1959 in 1382 Perry Ave., Salt Lake, Utah. He was buried on July 11th, 1959 in Provo City, Cemetary, Utah, USA.General Notes

OUR DEAR FRIENDS:
THANK YOU FOR HONORING US BY COMING TO OUR FAREWELL TONIGHT.
INASMUCH AS TOMORROW IS A HOLIDAY, AND MANY OF OUR FRIENDS HAVE TAKEN TIME TO CALL US BY TELEPHONE, AND OTHERS HAVE MAILED LETTERS WISHING US WELL IN OUR NEW UNDERTAKING, WE ARE GRATEFULL FOR THEIR THOUGHTFULNESS, ALSO.
IT HAS BEEN SAID, THAT OUT OF THREE REALLY IMPORTANT EVENTS IN OUR LIVES, WE HAVE THE POWER TO DECIDE ONLY ONE. THOSE THREE, CLIMATIC EVENTS IN THE LIFE OF AN INDIVIDUAL, ARE WHEN HE IS BORN, WHO HE MARRIED, AND WHEN HE DIES.
OF COURSE, WE HAVE NOTHING TO SAY, AS TO WHEN WE ARE BORN OR WHEN WE DIE. SO THE ALL-IMPORTANT STEP LEFT TO US IS THAT OF MARRIAGE. THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE MARRIED REALIZE THIS FACT; THOSE OF YOU UNMARRIED, WILL ONE DAY REALIZE THAT MARRIAGE IS THAT ONE IMPORTANT STEP IN YOUR LIVES. YOUR HAPPINESS DEPENDS UPON IT.
I THANK GOD THAT MY GRANDPARENTS JOINED THE CHURCH AND CAME TO ZION; THAT I WAS BORN OF GOODLY PARENTS. I AM THANKFUL THAT THEY HELPED ME TO LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT WHEN THE TIME CAME FOR ME TO CHOOSE A COMPANION, I WAS DEEMED WORTHY TO GO TO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD TO BE MARRIED FOR TIME AND ETERNITY.
I HAVE NOT BEEN VERY WISE IN MAKING DECISIONS IN THIS LIFE, SO I THINK I MUST HAVE BEEN INSPIRED WHEN I ASKED LORETTA TO BE MY WIFE. SHE WAS A SWEET AND TALENTED GIRL. (I SOMETIMES MARVEL THAT SHE HAS BEEN ABLE TO PUT UP WITH ME FOR SUCH A LONG PERIOD.) SINCE OUR MARRIAGE, FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO, SHE HAS BEEN MY CONSTANT COMPANION, AS A SWEETHEART, AS A WIFE, AND EVEN AS A MOTHER.
BUT STORED UP FOR HER IS A CROWN WITH NINE JEWELS. FOR WE FEEL THAT BY HAVING BEEN MARRIED UNDER THE COVENANT, GOD PERMITTED US TO CARE FOR NINE CHOICE SPIRITS, WHO WERE AND ARE CLOTHED IN BEAUTIFUL BODIES. TWO OF THEM HAVE BEEN CALLED BACK AND THE OTHER SEVEN ARE WELL ON THEIR WAY TO ETERNITY. WE HAVEN'T THE SLIGHTEST DOUBT, BUT THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE STREIGHT AND NARROW PATH. IT IS NECESSARY THAT ALL OF YOU MUST TASTE OF SOME OF THE BITTER, IN ORDER TO APPRECIATE MORE OF THE SWEET. THEREFORE, DETOURS ARE TAKEN AS WE GO ALONG OUR WAYS.
I TRUST THAT ALL OF US WILL LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT WE WILL BE WORTHY OF OUR MANY BLESSINGS.
(HAD WIFE STAND WITH HIM AND ADDRESSED HER) AS FOR LORETTA, I OWE HER A WHOLE LIFETIME OF LOVE AND GRATITUDE FOR HER LOVING ASSOCIATION AND TIRELESS HELP AND COMPANIONSHIP. NOW THAT WE ARE GOING ON THIS MISSION, MAYBE WE CAN REALLY BECOME ACQUAINTED.

Served a full two year Mission in the "New England Mission" with his Wife.
The first 12 years of his life were in Midway, Utah, in the beautiful
Mountain valley of the upper Provo River. His family then moved to Provo,
Utah. Here he finished public schooling then attended Brigham Young Acadamy.
During his schooling, he played drums in both the orchestra and the band.
He was on the student body counsil, floor manager at the school dances.
He lettered in Track, Baseball (Team Manager) and played 2nd base. He was
the running back in Rugby Football a sport not officially recognized then.
He lived a righteous life giving of his time and energy freely in the service
of others.
