Catherine was born about 1653 in Gravesend, King, New York. Catherine's father was James BOWNE and her mother was Lydia HOLMES. Her paternal grandparents were William (Bound) BOWNE OR BOUND and Mrs. Ann BOWNE; her maternal grandparents were Obadiah HOLMES and Katherine HYDE. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Obadiah, James, William, Andred, Samuel, Deborah, Sarah and Elizabeth. She is the oldest of the ten children.General Notes
