Mathilda (Maud) was born in 1005.  Mathilda (Maud)'s father was Lambert De Louvain and her mother was Gerberge De Laon.  Her paternal grandparents were Regnier De Hainault and Adele Von Ringelheim; her maternal grandparents were Charles De Laon and Adelheid (Adelaide) De Ardenne. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Lambert, Eustache, Mahaut Maud Of, Landrode and Landrade.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.

‌Mathilda (Maud) and Eustace I were married in a religious ceremony in 1019.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Lambert, Eustace II and Gerberge.
