William Thornton

William was born in 1480. William's father was Robert Thornton and his mother was Jane Layton. His paternal grandparents were William Thornton and Agnes Aldborough; his maternal grandparents were William Layton and Elizabeth Stapleton. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Martin, Thomas, Gregory, Richard, John, Christopher, Francis, Anne and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eleven children.
