Lady Matilda Billung of was born about 0948 in Saxony, Germany.  Lady Matilda Billung of's father was Herman Billung and her mother was Hildegarde von Westerbourg.  Her paternal grandfather was Count of Saxony Billung. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Bernard I, Liudger, Schwanhilde and Abbess of Hereford.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died on May 25th, 1008.
