Francis Esther was born on March 24th, 1905. Francis Esther's father was William Simmons Lang and her mother was Gertrude Cheney. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Simmons Lang and Fannie E. Wigston; her maternal grandparents were Henry B. Cheney and Frances Esther Merritt. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry Warren, Edward Willis, Charles Leonard, Dorothy May and Pauline Gertrude. She was the third youngest of the six children.-
