Rhywallen ap was born about 1025 in Powys, Wales. Rhywallen ap's father was Cynfyn ap Gwerystan and his mother was Angharad Verch Maredydd. His paternal grandparents were Gwerystan ap Gwaithfoed and Nest ferch Cadell; his maternal grandfather was Maredydd Ap Owain. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Bleddyn ap, Caradoc ap, Everydd ferch and Gwerdd Verch. He was the second oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Gruffydd ap. He died in 1070 in Battle--Mechain, Montgomeryshire, Wales.-
