Owain Ap Hywel 
Owain Ap was born about 0913 in Dynevor, Llandyfeisant, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Owain Ap's father was Hywell "Dda" ap Cadell and his mother was Eleanor Verch Llywarch. His paternal grandparents were Cadel "Mawr" ap Rhodri and Rheingar; his maternal grandfather was Llywarch ap Hyfaidd. He had two brothers and a sister, named Rhodri ap, Einion (Edwin) ap and Angharat ferch. He was the oldest of the four children. He died in 0987.General Notes

Owain ap Hywel Dda, king of Deheubarth, where he ruled for nearly 40 years, paid tribute of 300 wolves' heads to Edgar, King of England, 962; tried to recover the throne of Gwynedd, and died 988, having had a son, Einion ap Owain.

Owain ap Hywel Dda, King of Deheubarth was a man of historical interests. A great deal of genealogy and the Annales Camriae were compiled at his request.
