St. Louis IX was born on April 25th, 1214 in Paris, Isle-de-France, France.  St. Louis IX's father was Louis VIII "The Lion" Capet and his mother was Blanche of Castile.  His paternal grandparents were Philip II "Augustus" Capet and Isabella de Hainault; his maternal grandparents were Alphonso VIII 'the Good' Sanchez and Eleanor Plantagenet. He had three brothers named Count of Artois, Count of Poitou and I.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 56 on August 25th, 1270 in Tunis, Africa.  He was buried in St. Denis, France.
