Dick (Dirk) Beving 
Dick (Dirk) was born on February 26th, 1849 in Holthusen, Germany. Dick (Dirk)'s father was Dirk (Ubbens) Evers Beving and his mother was Trientje "Tena" Jans Freeksen. His paternal grandparents were Ubbo Everts Beving and Antje Janssen; his maternal grandfather was Jan Freeksen. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Ubbe, Jan, Antje (Anna), Gepke, Amke (Emma) and Trientje (Tena). He was the second youngest of the seven children. Note: Dirk and Mareka Beving first made their home on a farm 2 1/2
miles east of Cleves, Iowa and later on farms at Matlock and Woden,
Io wa. They finally moved to join their daughter Tena and her husband,
Jacob Smi th at Doran, Minnesota.
