Her paternal grandparents were Newton Wallop *E Portsmo and Frances Sherard; her maternal grandparents were Henry John George Herbert *E Caernar and Henrietta Anne Howard. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Newton, John Fellowes, Oliver Henry, Robert Gerard Valoynes, Frederick Henry Arthur, Catherine Henrietta, Rosamond Alicia, Dorothea Hester Bluet and Henrietta Anna.
