Thomas was born in 1791 in Wilkes County,North Carolina. Thomas' father was Joseph Rash and his mother was Mildred (Milly) Isbell. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Rash and Mary Warren; his maternal grandparents were James Isbell and Frances Tompkins Livingston. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, James, Perry R., Son, Nancy, Mary Elizabeth (Betsey), Mary and Daughter. He died at the age of 69 in 1860 in Wilkes County,North Carolina.-
