Story told that John cut the 1st joint off a finger in a saw and someone asked him how it happened and he stuck his finger in the saw again and lost the 2nd joint of the finger. Lived in a 2-room yellow poplar log cabin about 25ft. x 3- ft. A large fireplace in the middle to hold a 6 foot log. Son Cecil helped to build the house. Had a stationary sawmill and wheat seperator and corn shred- der in the area of Log Creek Cemetary which is now all strip mining.
