Benjamin was born in 1846. Benjamin's father was Wesly B. Pierson and his mother was Martha Gallaway. His paternal grandparents were William Pierson and Nancy Fitzsimmons. He had three brothers and three sisters, named James, John M., Thomas H., Mary E., Lucinda and Sarah H.. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.-
