Thomas was born in of Bertholau,Llantrisaint,Monmouthshire,England. Thomas' father was Edward Kemeys Esquire and his mother was Alice ferch John. His paternal grandparents were Edward Kemeys Esquire and Joan Lewis. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Edward, John, Nicholas, Hester, Margaret, Miss, Anne and Catherine.
