Clarissa Sarah was born in December 1831 in Crawford County,Illinois. Clarissa Sarah's father was John S. Herriman and her mother was Elizabeth F. Gaines. Her paternal grandparents were John Herriman and Chloe Strong; her maternal grandparents were Stephen Gaines and Martha Patsy Waldrop. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Reason, Elias, Stephen, Harriet, Martha J. and Mary Polly. She was the third oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 85 on July 3rd, 1917 in Picher,Ottawa County,Oklahoma. She was buried in Galena,Cherokee,Oklahoma.General Notes
