John Otway was born in of Muckross,Killarney,Kerry,Ireland. John Otway's father was Nicholas Herbert Reverend and his mother was Martha Cuffe. His paternal grandparents were Edward Herbert and Frances Browne. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Nicholas, Lucinda, Sophia, daughter, daughter and daughter.
