Jesse Franklin was born in 1851 in Indiana. Jesse Franklin's father was David Gentry and his mother was Mary P(ayson) Gay. His paternal grandparents were Shelton Gentry and Sarah (Sally) Staton; his maternal grandparents were Jesse Gay and Nancy Ann Sprinkle. He had three sisters named Martha A., Hannah C. and Susan C.. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named George A., Christopher Columbus, William, Elizabeth Jane, Isophene, Mary A. and Nancy. He was buried in Log Creek Cemetary,Pike County,Indiana.-
