Notes of Emmett Shute ---
He received a letter from Joseph M. DeWeese, 287 Robbins Dr. Newark, Ohio March 31, 1932.  Here is a digest account from letter--

I am the Grandson of Samuel DeWeese, I was born Sept 14, 1854 in Licking co. Ohio.  My father was james L. De
Weese.  My grandfather also has another girl which you  have not named, her name was Margaret.  My father had 5 children--four girls and one boy.  Alonzo had four boys and four girls.  Lucinda had one girl and one boy, she married a man by the name of Carlin.  Margaret married Rob Wheelhouse and last I knew went to California.  Samuel went to Illinois.  Dont know anything about his family.

I dont know what Grandmothers maiden name was.  Grandfather was a Miller by trade, run a Mill at Clay Lick Ohio. 

'My sister, older than I am and has a better memory, Address Mrs Emma Dragor, Tecumseh, Okla.  If you write her she might tell you more than I can.


Emmett wrote Emma Draggor Nov 17, 1932 and received following answer--

I know nothing about the parents of Samuel DeWeese all I know is that he died about 1854.  I know nothing at all about his wifes people.  I knot know who got Samuels family Bible unless Aunt Sin got it.




Clay Lick is on east border of Madison Twp, Licking county. 
Aunt Sin referred to above was Lucinda Orilla Deweese Carlin.
William Carlin lived next door to James L. DeWeese
