Jonah was born on December 27th, 1673 in New London,New London,Ct. Jonah's father was Matthew (Mathew) BECKWITH and his mother was Mrs. Elizabeth BECKWITH. His paternal grandparents were Matthew (Mathew) BECKWITH and Elizabeth (Mary) LYNDE; his maternal grandparents were Peter TALLMAN and Anne HILL. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Matthew, John, James, Griswold, John, Prudence, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ruth and Sarah. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named Joseph. He died at the age of 47 on December 22nd, 1721 in Lyme,New London,Connecticut. He was buried in December 1721 in Lyme,Conn.General Notes
