Robert was born in September 1763 in ,Augusta County,VA.1 Robert's father was Samuel Young and his mother was Jane Haynes. His paternal grandparents were Robert Young and Agnes Crockett. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, John, David, Samuel, Jane and Mary. He was the third oldest of the seven children.
