Her paternal grandparents were James Young and Mary Guyn; her maternal grandparents were David Louden and UNKNOWN Susan. She had five brothers and four sisters, named David, James M., William Luther, John Fleming, Greenley W., Amanda, Susan, Mary and Margaret Hellen. She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
