Her paternal grandparents were Leo Hardy Worland and Margaret Valentine Louden; her maternal grandparents were David K. Newton and Theresa Worland. She had two brothers and two sisters, named George Otto, Justin, Mary Genevieve and Rosalie. She was the third oldest of the five children. She had six half-brothers named Victor Peter, Leo Francis, George Edward, Lawrence Edward, John Louis and Simon Joseph.-
