Catherine was born in 1837 in Sand Creek Township,Decatur,IN. Catherine's father was David TOOTHMAN and her mother was Dorothy Evans. Her paternal grandparents were John Toothman and Mary Fox; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Evans and UNKNOWN Elizabeth. She had seven brothers and a sister, named William, Joseph, Ratliff, Newton, Jasper, Russell, John M and Anna Airy. She was the third oldest of the nine children.-
