Chester Leon's father was Dean Emberson Stone and his mother was Nola America Proctor.  His paternal grandparents were George Washington Stone and Elizabeth A. Bowman; his maternal grandparents were General Edward Price Proctor and Sarah Gable. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Roy Edward, Baby, Mozell, Onita, Pansy Louvesta, Stella Mae and Elva.
