Lene was born in January 1853 in IN. Lene's father was George Stephan and her mother was Rose Lent. Her paternal grandparents were John George Stephan and Elizabeth Winter. She had two sisters named Rosa and Lise (Elizabeth). She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Marvitt and Mina E. (Minnie). She died at the age of 90 on January 8th, 1943 in Batesville,Ripley,IN. She was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery,Shelbyville,IN.General Notes

1900 census states her parents born in Germany. Cemetery records indicate she died from a fracture of the femur; presume this means broken hip. Lena lived with John S. Young for many years. Letter from James L. indicates his family lived in the John F. home on Hendricks Street until he was 5; so Lena probably lived there also until the George Youngs moved to West Street. She lived last few years with step daughter Pearl Young Krieger in Batesville, IN. Prior to marrying John F. Young, she lived for 12 years with Mr & Mrs John Elliott.
