Hattie Dix was born in 1891. Hattie Dix's father was George Washington McClung and her mother was Hattie A. Bivens. Her paternal grandparents were Alexander McClung and Eleanor Thompson. She had four brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named H. Dwight, Heber Lackey, McTyere Marvin, Keener Key, Ada Vigilee, Anna Nash and Unknown. She was the third youngest of the eight children.
