Elijah Joseph was born on November 2nd, 1865 in Ohio,IN. Elijah Joseph's father was Joshua Tipton Hankins and his mother was Phoebe Jane Glenn. His paternal grandparents were Joseph HANKINS and Catherine ROGERS; his maternal grandparents were Joseph B. Glenn and Elizabeth Graham. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Joseph Berry, Martin Van Buren, John William, Gabriel Ginn, Lory Thomas, Elizabeth Katherine, Lucy Ann, Mary Frances (Molly), Alice Mae, Minnie Olive and Nora Dell. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 93 on May 29th, 1959.-
