Laura Ann was born on April 10th, 1853. Laura Ann's father was George Washington Gwin and her mother was Margaret Beck. Her paternal grandfather was James Gwin. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Francis Marion, George Washington, Martha E, Betsy Jane, Drusilla Angeline, Mary Denzia, Christina Ann and Julia Ann. She was the youngest of the nine children.
