Cynthia was born in 1811. Cynthia's father was Robert Moses Gwin and her mother was Mary Stephenson. Her paternal grandparents were David Gwin and Jane Carlisle. She had five brothers and six sisters, named David, James Stephenson, Robert S, Houston F., Moses, Jane, Esther S., Emaline Mary, Amanda, Caroline and Mary A.. She was the third oldest of the twelve children.-
