He had three brothers and six sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named James Alexander, Samuel H., David Christopher, Mary Ann, Eliza Jane, Paulina Catherine, Martha Abigail, Sarah Isabel, Elizabeth Margaret, Unknown and Unknown. He was the second oldest of the twelve children. He had a half-sister named Elizabeth Ann. He died at the age of 68 on April 6th, 1908 in ,Woodford,KY.
