Rhiwallon was born in 1026 in Powys,Montgomeryshire,Wales.1 Rhiwallon's father was Cynfyn ap Gwerystan and his mother was Angharad Verch Maredudd. His paternal grandparents were Gwerystan ap Gwaethfoed and Nest Verch Cadell; his maternal grandparents were Maredydd Ap Owain and Nest Verch Owain. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Gruffydd ap, Rhiwallon ap, Bleddyn ap, Miss verch, Gwerydd verch, Nest verch and Iwerydd Verch. He was the youngest of the eight children.
