Cadell ap was born about 0854 in of,,Deheubarth,Wales. Cadell ap's father was Rhodri "Mawr" ap Merfyn and his mother was Angharad Verch Meurig. His paternal grandparents were Merfyn Frych Ap Gwriad and Nest verch Cadell; his maternal grandfather was Meurig (Meirin) Ap Dyfnwallon. He had two brothers and a sister, named Anarawd Ap, Merfyn Ap and Nest Verch. He was the oldest of the four children. He had eight half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Anarawd ap, Merfyn ap, Aeddan ap, Tudwal "Gloff" ap, Meurig ap, Rhodri "Fychan" ap, Gwriad ap, Gwyddelig ap, Nest verch, Angharad verch and Miss verch. Cadell ap Rhodri Mawr resided at Dynefor. He ruled from about 878 to his death
in about 909 or 910. He had other children in addition to Hywel Dda and
Clydog.
