He had a brother and seven sisters, named Alexander, Margaret, Isabella Elizabeth, Joan Janet, Mary, Annabella, Eleanor and Isabel (Princess). He had three half-brothers named John of Atholl, James of Buchan and Andrew. He died at the age of 30 in 1460 in Roxburgh Castle,Scotland.
