Thomas Masterson 
Thomas was born about 1520 in England. Thomas' father was Thomas Maisterson Esq. and his mother was Mary (Margery) Ma(i)nwaring. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Maisterson Esq. and Agnes Jodrell; his maternal grandparents were Roger Mainwaring and Margaret Brooke. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Henry, John, Nicholas, Roger, Rycharde, Humphrey, Margaret, Anne, Margery, Elizabeth and Isabell. He died on August 2nd, 1590 in Wexford Co., Ireland.General Notes
In company with other leading young men, he went to Ireland with the Earl
of Pembroke (Strongbow) in 1554 and these received large grants of land
from the Crown. Thomas was Knighted 6 Oct 1588. Was appointed Governer of
Fern Castle near Castletown, in county Wexford, Ireland and received the
title of "Seneschal of Wexford." Another report says "Seneschal of Ferns
Castle and Captain of Wexford Castle."
A letter dated 15 Aug 1590 reported his death. From Sir Henry Wallop to
Lord Burghley.
In 1550/51 Thomas got a lease of lands in the Lordship of Clanemolere in
the Kings Co.
He was one of the Captains of the Fort of Leix in 1553 and was appointed
High Sheriff of the County of Kilkenny in 1567.
In 1570 he was granted a lease of the Abbey of Ferns and a lease of the
Manor of Cloghamon in 1581.
