William's son, Henry (my great-great-grandfather) was also enrolled on
February 24, 1864 at Columbus, Indiana in Company H, 120th Regiment of
the Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. He marched with General
Sherman through Georgia and then went by boat to Washington, D.C. where
he guarded the Capitol before being mustered out January 8, 1866 at
Raleigh, North Carolina. He drew a pension and his military records show
he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes, black hair and
his occupation was farmer. After returning from the war he married Nancy
Scisco November 24, 1867 and they had nine children.
