Mary E. was born about 1865 in Putnam Co,WV. Mary E.'s father was John Hix and her mother was Eliza Elken. Her paternal grandparents were David Hix and Mildred Huddleston. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Charles S., James Robert, John Henry, Nancy M., Sarah L. and Ann Eliza. She was the second youngest of the seven children.-
