Edgar W. was born about 1869 in WV. Edgar W.'s father was Lawrence Hicks and his mother was Cynthia Ann Hinkle. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Stephen Hicks and Margaret Boggs. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Leonard S., Henry Clay, Joseph Brown, Luther E., Ottis P., Lizzie E., Nancy E. and Laura. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
