Elizabeth was born in 1826.  Elizabeth's father was Solomon Exline and her mother was Jane Smith.  Her paternal grandfather was John Exline; her maternal grandfather was Richard W. Smith. She had six brothers and a sister, named George, Richard, Abraham, Solomon, Ebenezer Smith, Laban R. and Jane.  She was the oldest of the eight children. She had two half-sisters named Sarah and Margaret.  She died at the age of 36 in 1862 in Marion,Iowa.
