Grief Talley 
Grief was born in 1808 in North Carolina.1 Grief's father was George Washington Talley and his mother was Mary Lucy McDaniel. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Talley and Jane Russell. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Sterling, George Henderson, John W, Robertson, Rebecca, Nancy, Jane, Mary and Page.
They had seven sons and two daughters, named Francis Marion, William, Newton, Seney, Elizah, Franklin, John, Nancy and Nancy.
