Roxie was born about 1894 in Pontotoc. Mississippi.1 Roxie's father was Nathan Berry Porter and her mother was Lula Mary Sibley. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas O. Porter and Nancy Green; her maternal grandparents were George Washington Sibley and Sarah Ann Perry. She had three brothers and four sisters, named William Curtis, Reed Byron, Jackson Miller, Aurelia, Sallie Belle, Lillian and Anita. She was the second oldest of the eight children.-
