Rachel Catherine was born on March 1st, 1836 in , Fayette, Alabama.1 Rachel Catherine's father was George Washington Pennington and her mother was Sarah Louisa Lusk. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Pennington and Catherine Tackett; her maternal grandparents were John Lusk and Rachel Tenason. She had eight brothers and four sisters, named James Ervin, Henry J., Zachariah Taylor, Stephen Franklin, George Washington, Alfred Burton, Berry, Robert L., Nancy Caroline, Frances Emeline, Susan Angeline and Mary Jane. She died due to Cancer of Eye at the age of 68 on August 23rd, 1904.1 General Notes
