William Rufus Howell

William Rufus was born in January 1837.¹   William Rufus' father was Abner Y Howell and his mother was Phoebe D Ingram.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Ingram and Jemima Louise Watkins. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas J, Samuel P, Presley Nelms, Brackett Owen, Winifred Eugenia, Eliza N, Rebecca Helen, Margaret A "Maggie", Emma Dean and J Alice.  He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.
