Ralph de was born about 1115 in Of, Vermandois, Normandy, France.1 Ralph de's father was William II de WARENNE and his mother was Elizabeth (de Vermandois) Capet. His paternal grandparents were William I de Warenne and Gundrada de Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Hugh Capet and Adelle (Adelaide) de VERMANDOIS. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Reynald de, William III de, Gundred de and Ada de. He was the second oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Robert II de, Waleran de, Hugh de, Isabel (Elizabeth) de, Aubreye de, Adelina de, Agnes de, Havoise De, Amicade de and Maud de.
