Sveyn was born about 1021.1 Sveyn's father was Godwin of Wessex and his mother was Gytha Thorkilsdottir. His paternal grandfather was Wulfnoth of Sussex; his maternal grandparents were Jarl Thorkill Sprakalaeg and Sigrid Sprakalegg. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Harold II, Tostig, Gyrth, Leofwine, Wulfnoth of Wessex, Alfgar of Wessex, Edith Eadgyth of Wessex, Gunhilda of Wessex, Elgiva of Wessex and Driella of Wessex. He died on September 29th, 1052 in Lycia, Constantinople, Byzantium.1 General Notes
