Walton was born in 1839 in KY.1 Walton's father was John Powell and his mother was Mary Martin. His paternal grandparents were Charles POWELL and Sarah Leah GOLDMAN; his maternal grandparents were Unknown Martin and Susannah. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James M., John G., Miranda and Amanda. He was the third oldest of the five children.
