His paternal grandfather was Hugh I de Mortimer; his maternal grandparents were William de MESCHINES and Cecily de RUMILLY. He had two brothers named Hugh de and Roger de. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Philip de, Ranulf de, William de and Alice.-
