Alice was born about 1160 in Of, Harringworth, Northamptonshire, England and her baptism took place in Of Tong, Shropshire, Or Ashby, Leicestershire.1 Alice's father was Phillip (Guillame) de BELMEIS and her mother was Maud (Matilda) de MESCHINES. Her paternal grandfather was Walterde BELMEIS; her maternal grandparents were William de MESCHINES and Cecily de RUMILLY. She had three brothers named Philip de, Ranulf de and William de. She had three half-brothers named Hugh de, Philip de and Roger de. She died after 1190.1 General Notes
